04 an hour WGH is hiring an experienced, detail-oriented painter to join our building services team in a full-time capacity! This position has a variable schedule consisting of rotating days, shifts, and hours to meet project needs.
In this role you will:
Apply coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamels, lacquer or vinyl wall covering to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of the hospital.
Paint, clean or replace all forms of ceiling tile and vinyl baseboard.
Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, or steel wool and remove old paint from surface, using paint remover scrapers, wire brushes, or blow torches to prepare surfaces for painting.
Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other filler.
Select pre-mixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment oil and thinning and drying substances.
Paint surfaces using brushes, spray gun, electrostatic spray equipment, or paint roller.
Remove existing wall coverings and prepare walls to accept new call covering.
Rig stage or erects scaffolding.
Spread cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
Responsible for cleaning and removing all supplies, equipment and office furniture.
Remove all bulletin boards, electrical covers, shelves, handrails, protective coverings and signage from work area for painting.
All work is to be done being conscious of safety hazards and cost containment efforts.
Layout, fabricate and design all different forms of signage throughout the hospital complex.
Work with outside contractors in the layouts, repairs and installation of hospital signs.
Estimate quantities of material and equipment needed and prepares requisitions.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Trade or vocational school preferred.
Minimum three years' experience in painting and vinyl wall covering field.
Willing/able to work varying schedule rotating across varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
Ability to move throughout the facilities various buildings, roofs, tunnels, and confined spaces.
Ability to perform all appropriate maintenance work or repairs on various forms of ladders, scaffolds, man lifts and safety equipment in order to complete work assignments at extreme heights.
