PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Layout, build, assemble, tryout and set up for production and make major repairs to intricate tools, molds, gauges, dies, jigs, fixtures and machines with closely limited and inter-related locations.
EQUIPMENT USED: All machine tools provided for altering the shape and hardness of any material; hand tools and measuring devices common to the trade as well as such production equipment required to perform primary function.
Job Description:
1. Setup, adjust and operate all machine tools and perform any bench work or floor operation required to construct molds, tools and dies, such as; blank, form, compound and progressive; plus gauges, jigs, fixtures, special tools and machine parts.
2. Perform layout work. Interpret, understand and make parts to specification on complicated prints and drawings. Make sketches or drawings.
3. Harden, temper and grind intricate tools, die and mold parts to specified tolerances on any piece of tool room equipment applicable.
4. Silver solder carbide in dies, form tools and parts as required.
5. Select or make proper tools for working on intricate parts as necessary.
6. Develop blanks for multi-slides or press dies. Assemble and/or check out all phases of mold construction.
7. Develop dies, molds, and tools made by or for outside vendors or other shop personnel.
8. Setup, adjust production punch, draw, coining and molding presses to make sample parts or to develop tooling.
9. Make suggestions for changes in construction to improve the operation or lower the maintenance costs of tools, dies, molds and equipment.
10. Assist in training apprentices, learners and other shop personnel as directed.
11. Properly care for, clean and lubricate machines.
12. Perform the duties of Attend & Operate Metal Stamping & Forming Presses or Press Set-up & Operation as assigned.
13. Perform each phase of the operation in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations.
14. Responsible to practice good workmanship and fully meet the quality requirements of the job with respect to product or service provided to fellow employees or the final customer.
15. Notify designated personnel of any irregularities in materials, process, or equipment.
16. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area(s) and observe company policies at all times.

1. Bench work is filing, fitting scraping, assembly layout, drilling tapping, had grinding, lapping, stoning, measuring, polishing and inspecting tools, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, special machines and component parts to precision tolerances.
2. Grinding of tools includes grinding of form, radii, angles, slots, etc., to specified tolerance fit on intyer-0related parts and dressing of form wheels.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
4 years Tool Maker Apprentice and 2 years Tool Maker C and 2 years Tool Maker B 0r 2 years Tool Maker B and necessary pre-requisite experience.
