REPORTING TO: President and Sales Manager
OBJECTIVE:
o Serve as a liaison between Sales and the Customer on matters regarding product design, manufacturability and pricing
RESPONSBILITIES:
o Provide pricing and estimations in response to quotation requests from customers
o Document and maintain estimates and correspond directly with Sales and the customer
o Apply knowledge of company operations and math skills required for yield calculations to determine labor hours, material and any additional services necessary to produce customers request for quote
o Establish production routings for use in job scheduling and manufacturing
o Work closely with customers to understand product / part specification and respond to in-depth customer questions and inquiries
o Partner with Sales to develop account-gaining strategies by researching and understanding the customer needs
o Provide appropriate and effective product and customer support to assist in closing business successfully
o Propose any changes in equipment or use of materials resulting in cost reduction or operational improvement where applicable
o Become knowledgeable and report on any market changes affecting company products and services
o Review data to determine material and labor requirements and develop itemized lists
o Conduct any special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost date or effect cost reductions
o Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
REQUIREMENTS:
o Associates in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or relevant equivalent on the job experience
o General mechanical machining knowledge with regard to equipment and processes - ideally CNC machining, equipment and processes such as boring, milling, turning, cutting and welding equipment
o Maintenance machining experience
o 3-5 years experience in a Machining and Job Shop environment
o 1-3 years experience in a Sales Estimation, Technical Sales, Sales Engineering, and/or Applications Engineering role with experience in Cost Estimation and quoting highly desired
o Experience within an ISO 9001:2008 certified environment and/or experience serving customers in the military, defense, aerospace industries preferred
o Exemplary problem solving skills, ability to offer a high level of innovation to influence overall efficiency, improvements in productivity, outcomes, etc.
o Must have superior oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills - ability to use verbal skills to transfer information to large groups and/or influence others, as well as the ability to assist in preparing business documents, client case notes, technical reports if/when necessary. Must be able to successfully and comfortably interface with clients / customers
o Strong Mechanical aptitude (will be tested as a part of screening process)
o Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, forecasting / projections
o Computer skills to include Internet / e-mail, Spreadsheet and Word processing software - (MSWord and Excel, etc.), ability to pick up and learn new software to potentially include financial and presentation software, and Estimating software ( MicroEstimating ).
o Blueprint reading and the ability to understand and comprehend customer specifications
o Must be able to pass drug and background check.
o Must be able to travel to customer sites occasionally.
